Lucinda Guy

“I’m a knitwear designer-maker and author who creates clothes, accessories, toys and books for both adults and children.

I live in Brighton, England and work from the home I share with my partner, illustrator and graphic designer François Hall (who is behind all the funny and wonderful illustrations in my children’s books). I studied constructed textiles, and specialised in knitting, initially designing children’s collections, one-off pieces and designs for, amongst others, Paul Smith, The Conran Shop, the British Crafts Council and Rowan.

Folk art, folk lore, the natural world and traditional knitting techniques are a constant inspiration for me and I have been able to combine these with my passion for sustainable, authentic pure wool yarns in my latest books, Northern Knits and Northern Knits Gifts. My time is now usually divided between researching, travelling, designing, writing and teaching workshops and I contribute to various knitting magazines. Along side commissioned work I am currently working on more book ideas and developing a new range of products for my website”. [From the artist’s website/ Du website de l’artiste].
