“Berta Salinas was born in Madrid in 1982. Graduated in Fine Arts at the Complutense University in Madrid and with a Film School degree, she currently works between the artistic and audiovisual medium combining both disciplines.
From drawing to engraving and photography her work has evolved mainly into embroidery, using a needle as if it were a pencil. After two collections of embroidered work: “Love Songs” (Do, Madrid 2011) and “Cannibal” (Mad is Mad, Madrid 2012) in which she recreates small disturbing images with the same heartbreak theme, she begins to investigate textiles eventually creating a collection of cushions made and embroidered by hand, in which we find the same recurring symbols of the artist: hearts, female anatomy, nature…, creating beautiful and unique compositions”.
